Jarrold Publishing is a part of the Jarrold Group of companies based in
Norfolk for over 200 years
Requirement
As part of a strategic move to decentralise the IT functions to reflect
the differing needs of the separate businesses each division was required
to divorce
itself from the single tier network allowing the later implementation of
separate best of breed business solutions.

Approach
A solution was required that was both cost effective and fast to meet a
requirement timescale of less than two months.
Needs were:
- Broad band connections to internet and between Head Office, Branches and
Mobile Staff
- New network infrastructure to replace aging Novell system
- New email system to replace aging Groupwise system
- Fully integrated network for PCs and Macs
Solution & Technology
Windows 2000 Network with Exchange and Outlook 2002 for email, web mail
and Mac compatibility
ADSL connectivity to Net and between offices with VPN for inter branch and
Mobile users on Macs and PCs
Commitment
The project took a total of 17 man days spread over a period of 2 months.
